Lifeline Assisted by St. Vukasin Foundation in Trebinje, Republika Srpska to Deliver Packages for Serbian Orthodox Christmas
St. Vukasin Foundation of Trebinje, Herzegovina, Republika Srpska helped Lifeline Chicago deliver goods sent on January 6, 2024 to 41 vulnerable Serbian Families in Herzegovina.
Lifeline Chicago’s Three Kolo Group (Circle of Serbian Sisters of St. George of Joliet, Illinois, Circle of Serbian Sisters Kneginja Zorka of Lansing, Illinois and the Circle of Serbian Sisters of Archangel Michael of Lansing, Illinois) made it possible to have packages of food: flour, eggs, sugar, jam, bacon, pasta, pickles, oil, cheese, sausage, milk, salad, biscuits and hygiene products: shampoo, toothpaste, detergent, soap and bathroom cleaner. Families of three or four members received two packages.
St. Vukasin Foundation, a group of young volunteers, assisted Lifeline Chicago by delivering all of the packages to these vulnerable families. How lucky for Lifeline that these beautiful young individuals took time out of their own lives to help out these families. As Dimitrije, Bishop of Zahumlje, Herzegovina said of St. Vukasin Foundation: “…there should be a link or thread that connects existing humanitarian, philanthropic and health institutions in Herzegovina, not competing with them in any sense, but helping everyone to be more philanthropic, merciful and attentive to each other. We were guided and motivated by the desire that even those of weaker financial status welcome the birth of Christ. We are very grateful for our volunteers that managed to distribute and visit these needy families, so that even those who are infirm may be in joy, and not in pain. Let's remember that it is not happiness to have, but to know how to share. It's not joy to please yourself, but to make others happy, because that's the only way goodness is born in man, and thus God is born in man!“
