Holy Transfiguration Children's Camp in Canada Donates to Lifeline Chicago

The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Canada, with the blessing of His Grace, Bishop Dr. Mitrofan, had the pleasure of hosting a children's camp, at the Holy Transfiguration Monastery in Milton, Ontario, Canada. The theme of this year's camp was The Creed.  Close to 270 campers participated, ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old.   

This amazing camp was possible because of the labour of love from our devoted clergy, starting with Fr. Jovan Marjanac, Secretary of the Diocese, along with over 90 parent volunteers, including Baba's and Deda's. Our local Circle of Serbian Sisters from neighbouring parishes and the Winona Cetniks, provided delicious lunches everyday.

It was a blessed week, starting with a special visit from the Miracle Working Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God from Hawaii.  It was a joyous experience that we will never forget.  Camp week activities continued with Holy Liturgy, faith teaching, confession, communion, music, crafts, and outdoor activities.

As craft lead for Holy Transfiguration Camp (HTC) 2023, I had the pleasure of being involved in a beautiful experience. In conjunction with Lifeline Chicago, our campers designed t-shirts to send to less fortunate children in Serbia and Kosovo. Our older campers made tie dyed shirts, while our younger campers designed shirts using stencil and fabric markers. All of the t-shirts were donated by Melissa Petrilli and we give her many thanks for this act of kindness. All the pictures were taken by Jovan Djurdjevic (@jovandjurdjevicphotogrpahy) The shirts will be delivered to Serbia by Lifeline Humanitarian Organization from Chicago. 

Many children also attached a short message to the shirts they designed. The notes were written in Serbian and we pray those receiving the shirt also find hope in the uplifting message.
