CHRISTMAS PRESENTS FOR CHILDREN IN SERBIA AND THE REPUBLIC OF SRPSKA

Christmas gifts for children in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, provided by donations to Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago whose patron is HRH Crown Princess Katherine, arrived at the Royal Compound yesterday. The generous donors and benefactors of Lifeline Chicago, and our Lifeline Chicago Board Members, made it possible again this year that children feel the joy and love of Christmas and the holiday season.
This year, we would have celebrated our 20th traditional Christmas receptions for children without parental care at the White Palace. Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine began this annual event for children immediately after their
return to their homeland in 2001. Lifeline Humanitarian Organization of Chicago traditionally gathers donations to purchase gifts for children for the Christmas holidays, which are distributed at the White Palace each year.
Their Royal Highnesses are very saddened that the traditional annual receptions, where they would personally greet and distribute gifts to the children, were cancelled this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in Belgrade, 435 boxes of gifts, including clothing, shoes, toys, hygiene bags, and school supplies will be delivered to orphanages, day-care centers for children with special needs, women’s shelters, and many other institutions in Serbia and in the Republic of Srpska.
“There is nothing in the world more precious than a smile on the face of a child. When a person knows that these efforts brought that smile, that thanks to the contribution these children know that they are have not been forgotten. There are a lot of people who love the children and care for them, there is no greater reward than that special feeling in the heart
that a difference was made.
Thanks to the support of our donors and the wonderful people from Chicago who continue the tradition of supporting our children all these years, my husband and I are looking forward to bringing joy to more than 1,000 children despite the difficulties that the pandemic has brought. We are very grateful to all of them, for making it possible to bring the spirit of Christmas to these children and to enrich their childhood. Our children always need to know that they are loved” said HRH Crown Princess Katherine.
